Our Mission

F.O.K.U.S. uses the arts to educate, inspire, empower and unite diverse communities. F.O.K.U.S. is an organization led by young adults that highlights the importance of and need for arts and creativity in life.

We believe the arts enable people to rise above barriers in society by creating new ways of thinking, communicating and interacting.

What We Do

We open eyes to what art is and what art can be by creating diverse experiences. F.O.K.U.S. works with artists and audiences to highlight the importance of art in our communities.

The millenial generation is our primary target demographic but we know the benefit of open communities. Through the curation of our experiences, F.O.K.U.S. works with all ages and arts disciplines to increase access to the arts.

Allowing different backgrounds, cultures, interests, skills and passions to grow together, F.O.K.U.S. reshapes the concept of diverse communities.

How We Do It

The primary tenets of F.O.K.U.S. are:

arts education: teaching experiences using arts and artists in schools, community centers and other spaces. These programs allow students to develop discipline, leadership and responsibility through the exposure and practice of the arts.

arts in the community: short-run experiences that bring art into communities. These include art shows, film screenings, panel discussion and curation of spaces.

arts acumen: quarterly publication of INSIGHT magazine which provides acuity into the arts and minds of artists. INSIGHT is a story board gallery of artists from diverse background and disciplines.
